How to drive less
How I did it: I knew I was moving to a new apartment that would be super metro accessible. My car was a clunky old Saturn that was about to die and parking at the apartment was just going to be WAY too expesnive. So I decided to ditch my car - funnily enough though the car ditched me a week before my move when the water pump broke. My parents and I donated the car to a non-profit organization and now I am completely car-less. My BF still has a car which I ride around in - but it's been 2 weeks now of being car-free and I feel great!
Lessons & tips: I think it'd be too hard for me to get rid of the car if I lived further away from the city (D.C.) or from the Metro. Plus, it made it easier that my BF still has a car so JUST IN CASE I need one - it's there (but now with ZipCar around, you don't even need that).
