How to dye purple streaks in my hair
How I did it:
have been coloring it basically black for awhile. I really wanted to do
something different, so I went to a salon and had them bleach some
streaks in my hair to a yellow color (which looked ridic, but I don’t
trust myself with bleach!) and then went home to add the purple myself.
I bought “Ultra Violet” by Manic Panic, and whoa! It was ULTRA VIOLET!
I loved the color, kept it for two months, but after landing a more
serious job, I decided to change the color. Maybe I’ll do it again, I
loved the color. HOWEVER, WHEN IT FADED, IT TURNED SILVER! (And was a mess in the shower, ha.)
I wasn’t crazy about that, but alot of people liked it. Ha. I think it
was because the bleach made my hair yellow, and apparently purple +
yellow = silver. That’s the only con really, but you can just re-dye it!
Lessons & tips: DON'T bleach it yourself if you don't know what you're doing.
DO use gloves when applying the color.
DO apply heat to the color in order to make it brighter.
DON'T use shampoo with sulfates if your don't want the color to fade.
DO be prepared for the color to wash out a lot in the shower.
DO expect the color to stain your skin, clothes, and counter tops.
