How to use a calendar
How I did it: I actually opted for a digital calendar in the end.
I'm now
using Mozilla Sunbird to keep a record of the varied hours I'll be
working in the future, and that I have worked in the past week - which
comes in very handy come Saturday when timesheets must be submitted.
It
also helped appease my obsessive-compulsive side. There's now almost as
much reliability in my schedule as in a german train timetable, if
you'll excuse the horrendous cliché.
Add to that my previously revealed new ability to sleep enough hours, and I feel ultimately organised and slightly zen.
Lessons & tips: Find an hour or so in your day when you can set up your calendar with
all the things you need to be made aware of; birthdays, events, work
schedules, etc.
It will be a very important tool, and you'll find yourself relying on it more than expected.
Maybe
invest in a portable device capable of synchronising to your PC's
digital calendar - many mobile/cellphones do this these days, certainly
the older Sony-Ericsson models and upwards.
Your provider may
even provide an online synchronising service, which could then in turn be accessible by your phone's mobile browser.
Full circle solution!
