How to visit an art gallery
How I did it: My friend and I had always wanted to go to an Art Gallery together. I like art for the stories and emotion. I think he likes art because of the aesthetics. That's the good thing about art, you can like it for different reasons and dislike it for others.
It was raining quite horribly and we decided we didn't want to make the treck into the city to visit the Gallery of Modern Art. Instead, we went to the tiny local one. Sometimes they have really cool exhibits. However, that day they seemed to be severely lacking in awesomeness. Most of the artwork were antiques from our town's olden days.
I did really enjoy the photographs taken on the local university campus that used to be a mental institution. They had a very creepy eerie feel. Oh, they had a cool piece made from all these random household objects stuck together then spray painted black. It was captivating. My favourite exhibit was the children's gallery upstairs. They had a whole bunch of "Cars" made from household objects with wheels. It was just really interesting to look at.
Lessons & tips:
- Check out the one in your local area. Seriously. It may not be the stereotypical "art" gallery and it might be pretty boring but at least you've been.
- Keep an eye out for exhibitions in your local area. It might be dull now but something exciting might happen.
