How I did it:

1. Decided what it is I wanted to grow: I decided on a vegetable/herb garden.
2. Make a rough plan of where the garden will be, how big it will be, what will be planted, and where to plant it in the garden.
3. Go out and get seeds or plants.
4. Set aside a weekend to get started.
5. Roto-tilled lawn
6. Planted seeds and plants according to garden plan
7. Water, weed, and wait for it to grow!

Lessons & tips: I ended up with a pretty bad backache and sunburn -- use sunscreen and take lots of breaks. :)
