How I did it: Although I do believe being good to yourself can do a world of good in getting out of depression, it was not enough for me. Sometimes Life can interfere with your process, as is the case with me, and you have to take things a step further. That step for me was antidepressants. I have already been down the road of therapy, and therefore understand the root of most of my problems, but I just felt as if my brain was broken and I couldn't fix it on my own. Medication has kicked my brain back into gear where I can think and act rationally and no longer feel like I've completely lost all of my senses.
I kind of resisted the idea at first, but started with Prozac, then Welbutrin, and finally Effexor, which I’ll probably take forever. Also on Ritalin for ADD. I wish that had been around when I was in college.
