How I did it: Researched the Boulder real estate market online and property values . Looked at our finances carefully to determine if we could afford to buy. Checked out the rental market, found a good realtor, and asked around about neighborhoods and what the downsides might be. Everything worked out!
Lessons & tips: There's no way to know whether you'll really like a place until you get there. It takes a lot of research, but ultimately, it also takes a leap of faith.
