How to write song lyrics
"It got a lot off my chest."
How I did it: When I first wrote song lyrics, I was writing it for the boy I was in love with at the time.
I had been telling myself that I would for a very, very long time. He had already written me one, and I wanted to return the favor, and maybe play it for him on my new guitar.
Finally, I made myself sit down with a paper and pen and think about how I really felt about him. I thought about our relationship, what was so great about it, how it made me feel. And then I took all of those feelings and incorporated them into a song.
Some parts where hard; rhyming isn't always easy. But I just stuck with it, and by day two I was done, and he loved it. It brought us closer together, and left me feeling like I'd gotten something off of my chest. Plus, it was pretty. :)
Lessons & tips: - Stick with it, no matter how frustrating it gets.
If you get stuck, don't worry about and just keep trying. A line will come to you.
- Before you start, brainstorm.
Figure out exactly what it is you want the song to be about, then write down all your feelings about that certain subject.
- Remember, things don't have to rhyme perfectly.
As long as things sound semi the same, then you're good!
