How to create a kick-ass halloween costume
"I went as the ghost of Marie Antoinette.
"
How I did it:
I finally saw the movie w/ Kirsten Dunst last year, and loved the costumes. Incidentally, Marie and I share a birthday.
That's where the similarity ends. I'm not rich, so I found an Elizabeth Swann dress on eBay and a giant crinoline skirt at Goodwill. I modified the dress a with gold bows down the front. I found a great cheap "powdered" wig, and stuck a few of those black spider rings in it.
I did the bloody gash and skin puttty thing across my neck (yes, I know. Her execution was by guillotine, but I had logistics to consider), and powdered face, complete with a little black mole on my cheek.
The face color came out a little too white in photographs, but I had so much fun, and everyone dug it, that I'm considering doing it again this year, albeit w/ some minor changes.
Lessons & tips:
Have fun, and don't take it too seriously. I got hung up on ridiculous details like shoes, when no one was even going to see them. Focus on the important details.
Resources:
but, I didn't see how I'd fit inside a Chevy Aveo.
Nevertheless, Nicole's costume kicked ass, and inspired me to create my own, just dialed down a few notches.
