How to explore boston
How I did it: Even though this will make me sound like a (lame?) tourist, I got the Eyewitness guidebook. It was split up by different sections of the city and I found that it was really detailed. It even had some street-by-street tours for certain areas that were perfect for those on a time crunch. I only had 3 and a half days but I managed to see the best parts of Boston proper and do a little exploring in Cambridge and Brookline (which is where I am going to school in the fall). In addition you can always use Google if you want to find some local hotspots!
Lessons & tips: If you're coming from the uber-friendly West Coast (like I was) don't take it personally if the people and clerks seem a little more distant and indifferent (or even borderline rude at times). It isn't anything personal, that is just how people are on the East Coast.
Oh and grab a panini and a coffee at The Boston Common Coffee Company. It is fabulous!
