How to get out of debt
"Debt collectors really aren't that bad."
How I did it: I worked with collections agencies. Let them know exactly what I could afford, on what days of the month. If I could afford to pay them more, then I would. I showed that I wanted to pay my bills, but I couldn't do it all in one lump sum.
They were great with me.
Lessons & tips: Be completely honest with creditors. They know that hard times hit. If you are honest about your situation, and what you can afford, a lot of times they will find a way to cut corners, and make that possibility avaliable to you.
