"It was like cramming a 3 year degree program into 1 year because I was studying a completely new subject... but I did it!"
How I did it: Genuine interest and hard work is what got me through... reading until my head hurt and writing, writing and writing until I completed every essay that was due! I had to miss out on many social functions and weekends away on road trips whenever my group of classmates from uni were going... But I did well and am now on my way to a PhD!
Lessons & tips: 1) Have a genuine interest in studying the subject you signed up for.

3) Read as much as you can until you know all the relevant theorists on the subject you are writing about.
4) Do not choose socializing over your research work unless you do not care about doing well.
5) Meet your lecturers and tutors for one-on-one sessions and let them know that you want to do well by asking for advice and tips on how to do well.
6) Be hardworking but make friends and socialize at least once a week.
