How to visit Las Vegas
How I did it: This trip was probably the most exciting thing I've ever done. I went with a two of my friends and stayed at the lovely Mirage hotel. There was no set agenda and the three of us just took off and let the city swallow us up. I did not get to see everything, but what I saw was amazing! I saw palm trees for the first time. I saw dolphins and tigers...Elvis and Hendrix, I saw a grown man pole dance on a train. I walked around drunk, laughing hysterically and nobody cared! Probably on the second day there I knew I would never look at my life the same way again. I want more bright lights and partying...more fun and more excitement. Most of all I need a big change and Vegas was the push I needed to open my eyes.
Lessons & tips: Tips:
Planning: I booked this trip with two other people and in advance. This is (what I think) the cheaper way to plan.
Bring cash with you: It's scary to bring a load of cash in fear of losing it, but most hotels have safes in the closet. I say this because ATM's in Vegas charge you 5 times more then anywhere else.
Buy a bus pass: It's only $7 for 24 hours. Trust me...it's worth it.
Alcohol: Very expensive. If you buy a fancy souvenir cup, refills are cheaper and you'll get your money's worth.
Buffets: Also very expensive, although you can't really go wrong with a buffet. I went downtown to the Sahara for breakfast for half the price and I think it was the best meal I ate. I suggest only eating twice a day and going at irregular times to avoid massive lines.
Etc: Make sure you know where the closest drugstore is from your hotel. Stay together (especially if alcohol is involved), wear sunscreen, and have the time of your life!
Resources: Expedia.com- booked flight, hotel, and shuttle...very smooth...no problems.
