How to move to Toronto by luzvilla

"so far... easy!"

How I did it: It was extremely useful to move to a city where I have friends of friends that were willing to help me migrate.

I gave myself enough time to plan the move, including getting rid of stuff, quitting my job (gave more time notice), learning about Canada and Toronto's culture, neighborhoods, researching the job market, and so forth.

Lessons & tips:

  • Move during the summer!  
  • Save enough money to live without a job for a good 2-3 months, so you can get to know the city well and find a job.
  • Plan a trip to Canada during the winter so you know what life is like. 
  • Do share with friends, acquaintances, even strangers about your plans to move, and they may know people you can connect to once you are in the country.  I've found Canadians are extremely friendly and nice and always willing to help.

i mean... montreal!

2 weeks after i moved to toronto, i visited a close friend in montreal, and fell in love with this city!

so… decided to make yet another move, and move to montreal.

it has been harder than moving to toronto. as the fall approaches, temperatures have started to drop and its gotten pretty cold.. so i need now to spend some planned money on winter clothing.

also, the job market in montreal is tougher compared to toronto. jobs are paid less in comparison, and there arent as many available as they are in toronto.

furthermore, i dont know french, but the government provides free classes! yay!

its been tough, but worthy so far.
