How to learn to sew
How I did it: I asked for a mentor who has been sewing for his entire life. He is well into his 60's now and has trouble with arthritis these days. It was wonderful for me to sit with him as he so intricatly used his expertise to teach me how to thread the machine properly. It was wonderful to share that with somebody who truely appreciates everything a sewing machine has to offer. He was very proud that I was interesting in learning his skill that he has perfected over the years.
Lessons & tips: Practice makes perfect. Learn your machine before you start a project beacuse there are many variations and techniques that go into using a sewing machine. Reading the manual is available is always a good idea. I find that being shown by someone who knows is always easier that trying to read a diagram.
