How I did it: It only takes a moment of your time to change someone's life. When you tell a friend that they matter to you, when you smile at someone that most people view as invisible, when you help a small child find his mother in a store or stand over an old lady's grocery cart to prevent someone from stealing her purse that she left in the seat of the cart while she was reaching for something on a shelf. We all impact people everywhere we go.
The key is to remember that we all bring light into a room; some do it when they enter, and others when they leave. Which will you be?

I’m always amazed that people protesting in the streets about justice and fairness are often the last people to show simple compassion and decency to others in day-to-day encounters. I truly believe that in order to make the world better, we must strive for improvements on both “macro” as well as “micro” levels.
