How to ride my bike across the country
"fantastic way to see the country, and to really challenge yourself"
How I did it: I'd just started really getting into bike riding last year, and not really had the opportunity to ride a lot in the last year. After I got back in the country this year I hitched out to Portland, spent a couple weeks rummaging through parts bins, looking for ways to make my old 10-speed a touring machine. After the conversion, I went on one 50 mile ride fully loaded with my touring gear, and was on my trip two days later. Here I am at home, nearly 2800 miles later. Sure, not coast to coast, but still, across the country as far as I'm concerned.
