How I did it: We took a Mediterranean cruise that stopped over in Alexandria, then took a shore excursion that took us to Cairo (3 hours away), where it went to the Giza pyramids and Sphynx.

There are many Medit cruises every year, but I looked specifically for one that also went to Egypt, which is rarer.
