How to go blonde
How I did it: I went to the hair salon with the expectation of going from dark hair to platinum blonde... this was definitely not the case. Little did I know that its really bad for your hair to do that and so my hairdresser, being loyal to my hair, told me she could only start off by putting lots of blonde highlights in. Once she was done, I hated it. I am really, REALLY not a fan of highlights but I knew this was the proper way to get to blonde eventually without all my hair falling out!
Every month or so from then on, I went back and kept getting more and more highlights added in until my hair finally looked like a solid blonde color.
Even more recently I went back and this time my hairdresser said that I could just actually dye my whole head instead of getting highlights since I was officially a blonde.
I love my hair now! And blondes definitely have more fun, in my case anyway!
Lessons & tips:
- Start of by getting lots of highlights
- Make sure to get a GOOD shampoo and conditioner to maintain your hairs health after dying it. Blonde really damages your hair.
- Once you're a blonde, by purple shampoo to keep your hair from going brassy/yellow.
- Give your hair a deep conditioning treatment every few weeks too!
- Also, spray your hair with a heat protector before straightening/blowdrying to avoid breakage.
Resources: The best shampoo and conditioner for damaged hair is from Aveda and its the damage repair line. This has really helped my hair repair itself from all the damage i've done!
Also i've found that Joyco's purple shampoo works the best and it smells absolutely amaziiiiiiiiiing!
