How to drink more water and less soda
How I did it: Years ago I decided not to drink dark sodas anymore, and only drank clear sodas or water. I don't know if that was better than drinking the dark stuff, but about halfway through college I suddenly remembered how much I LOVE Dr PEPPER! And I still do!
But I know it's not healthy for me, so I don't buy it to keep at home anymore, instead I drink bottled water or refill a water glass around the house. At work I take a bottle of water every day (re-useable), and I only drink soda when going out for a meal.
The exception to my rule is "Pop Friday" as my co-workers like to call it. Once in a blue moon we'll all go CRAZY and bring a soda to work on Friday. I know, how exciting, right?
All in all I get my daily allotment of water and drink maybe 1-2 sodas a week vs. my old habit of a can a day. I still love Dr Pepper, but it tastes sooooo much better as a special treat.
Lessons & tips: Caffine is addictive, and quitting the habit cold turkey can lead to headaches and other problems. Ease yourself off so you don't shoot yourself in the foot. (Ironicly, caffine is also a major ingredient in pain killers too)
