How to become fluent in more than one language

How I did it: I became interested in Japanese when I was young, and only decided to pursue my interest when I became older. When I was thirteen I began reading up on how to learn the language, and watching movies without subtitles to pick up the gist of what I could. When I went to live in Japan, I was able to complete my knowledge of the language.
