How to complete a triathlon
How I did it: I did a lot of biking, some running and no swimming. I'm a pretty strong swimmer, so wasn't too worried about it. The transitions were tough - especially the bike to run - your legs feel like they are filled with plaster or lead. I did do some practice transitions before the race.
I'd train more next time and be more concerned with time/pace. As it was, it was fun to complete it with a smile.
Lessons & tips: Practice all the events and practice doing back to back workouts (swim: bike; bike: run). Find a training group, if possible. Pick a distance that is suited to your ability to start - there is no point starting off with a distance that is too challlenging and ending up discouraged. If this is your first tri, I'd recommend finding one with a pool swim - makes the plunge into the tri world a little less daunting...
