How to buy a used jeep wrangler
How I did it: 1. Finally got a job I have no intention of leaving within a year or two.
2. Saved $500 over 5 or 6 months as I started paying all my other bills and getting my credit score out of hell.
3. Looked around awhile. Met the sellers and had my dad drive a couple around.
4. Went to the bank and got denied a 3 year 8.5 APR $195 per month loan due to "insufficient length of employment." Went home and cried. Looked up what an APR means and found out that a lower number is better than a higher one.
5. Decided on a gorgeous green / tan 1999 Wrangler with a soft top, crank-down windows and 80,000 miles. Got the VIN to show the bank. Took it to a mechanic who inspected it and said, "it's perfect, don't let it get away."
6. Found a willing cosigner in my wonderful grandfather and got a 3 year 5.5 APR $181 per month loan for $6000.
6. Went to the insurance agent to get my own policy for the Jeep.
7. Called the seller and arranged a time to meet the lady who takes the sales tax and signs over the title to the Jeep.
8. Went to meet the seller this morning to take it home.
9. Brought home my new baby <3
The next step will be to get smooth at driving a stick shift so I am not stalling out on every freakin hill in my hillier-than-ever neighborhood - whole town actually.
