How I did it: I met new people with the help of my school forum and started hanging out with them more. We talked a lot and now I feel comfortable enough to ask for help or invite them to hang out.

Lessons & tips:

• give people a fair chance
• be open, don't miss out on sth just because you're afraid
• don't expect a lot from your new-found friends, you have to work on a friendship to make it last, but the other side has to as well
