"Exhilirating..frustrating....tiring...."
How I did it: Got my company to sponsor my education..enrolled into a fast-track executive program...zipped thru the program...came out a winner!!!
I took up as much work related to the course subjects that I could get my hands on from my company without compromising on my existing workload [vendor management, general administration, finance etc] and I tried to apply whatever I learnt during the 1-yr duration. That helped not only in keeping my knowledge current, but also gave a lot of self-confidence that I too could do it.
Lessons & tips: Question as much as you can..your time is at a premium
Read as much as you can
Apply as much of what has been learnt as possible
Resources: Internet, books and mostly fellow class-mates to make the sessions highly interactive and educative.
