How to make applesauce
"Shoulda gone with different apples."
How I did it: I wanted to do this with apples I picked myself, but I was at the farmer's market this past weekend and couldn't contain myself and bought four pounds of apples.
I couldn't find my mama's recipe so I went to a good (but distant second) resource - the internet.
I found a recipe at elise.com and followed the instructions.
Lessons & tips: Get GOOD cooking apples (Golden Delicious, Gravenstein), there is a list here. I used a sub-par apple and got runny and not so tart sauce. Poop.
Use the freshest ingredients - apples from the farmer's market, fresh lemon, cinnamon stick oppose to cinnamon powder -- it will definitely show in the taste.
