How to go natural!
How I did it: I stopped getting relaxers and then I got braid extensions to hide the new growth while my hair grew out. I waited for eight months (even thought I wanted to wait longer) and ended up with four inches of hair left. Went to a hair salon and the lady cut it off. It was easy. I wanted to wait to Big Chop because I was afraid of looking like a guy. But hair grows back, right.
Lessons & tips:
- Keep your hair moisturized during your transition.
- Treat your hair like silk so that it won't break off on the demarcation line.
- Keep your hair moisturized! My hair was dry and breaking which is why I had to BC earlier than I'd planned.
- BC when your ready. If you're concerned about length then hold off on doing the Big Chop.
- Join an online natural hair forum. The ladies on these types of boards are really helpful, and they're great for whenever you need a question answered.
- Keep your hair moisturized!!!
