"Nothing and no one can make you smile, like a child can! It's great to do something fun and amazing and get payed!"
How I did it: I got babysitting books (one was an AmericanGirl book!) and I took a Redcross Babysitting course at my local YMCA! You learn skills and tips, and they teach you CPR! At the end, you get a card for your wallet and a certificate! If you show your card to a parent that you may be babysitting for, not only will you feel more confident when babysitting, but you get mega bonus points with the parents! So there's the knowledge, the knowing that you HAVE the knowledge, AND the fact that you wanted to take the class shows responsibility! I actually got started babysitting, because my dad told his co-workers! Another thing I am going to do soon is make flyers and business cards, and put the flyers in everyone's mailboxes in my neighborhood, and give out the business cards to any adults I meet in the future, or friends of my parents!
Lessons & tips: *Get books
*Do research
*Take a class
*Make flyers and business cards, and put them in mailboxes, or give them out to adults you know
*Have a bad of fun stuff for the kids! Anything you have is new to them and they will LOVE that! Bring crayons, movies, books, toys, activity pads, fun stuff!
*HAVE A MINI FIRST AID KIT (You can get these at any drug store and they will probably give you one at the babysitting class!)
*Ask the parents questions! Not only will you once again be more confident, but the parent will know you are responsible, because you are asking these questions, because you care about their kids
*Make sure you have their phone numbers
*If any emergency were to happen, call 911 FIRST, then the parents!
