How to sell my photography
How I did it: Most of the journey was about finding a path. I started out very generally - looking at selling holiday pictures, landscapes and the like. As I went through the BIPP mentoring scheme, I realised that it's people that I like, and have been concentrating on portraiture, building confidence, finding studio space, submitting regular panels for mentor advice, and attending top quality training courses.
Slowly, my specialisation has been paying off and I can now confidently work with people - with posing and lighting coming as second nature.
Lessons & tips: Try finding a specialisation to excel in. Don't go for a broad spectrum, concentrate on people, or animals, or landscape. You are not reducing your chances of sales by reducing your scope - in fact, you are _increasing_ chances of producing high quality work.
And DON'T UNDERCHARGE! You do yourself no favours by doing so. Don't forget how much skill, training and craftsmanship go into what you do - charge for it!
Resources: BIPP mentoring and training. Absolutely crucial!
