How to donate hair to Locks of Love
How I did it: Without cutting it too often, or dying it at all, I grew my hair to my elbows. This took a few years and a lot of patience, but it was so pretty! I had always talked about donating my hair to charity, but couldn't muster the courage to actually chop it off and let go of it. Eleven inches is a lot of hair!
After a few weeks of headaches and hair style frustration, I went to the hair dresser and asked her to chop it all off before I could change my mind. She tied it up into 5 or 6 small ponytails around my shoulders. All of the other people in the salon were silent as they watched her cut it all off. They all cheered when she finished and put it into the bag. I wanted to scream, but knew it would not bring my hair back. After accepting this, I was looking forward to my new, short hair.
Over the next few weeks, everyone I knew congratulated me on my act of kindness and new hair cut. I look forward to doing this again!
Lessons & tips: Patience, patience, patience!
