How to pierce my lip
How I did it: I felt old (at 22) and nana-ish, and boring, so I drew a coupla of dots on my face (a monroe and a diagonally opposite lip piercing) and walked around like that for the day, catching my reflection whenever I could, thinking about what the piercings would look like.
I wasn't rich enough to get them both done, so I decided on the monroe, but when I got there somehow the words "Lip piercing please" came out of my mouth.
I was in a cold sweat about the needle, as I hate them, (funny considering I'm a piercer myself) but it was thru my lip in a heartbeat, and the jewellery seamlessly inserted.
I looked in the mirror and was glad I'd argued the piercer down about changing the placing, as it looked PERFECT.
It gave me a bit of gyp healing, and a couple of times the stud has come out without me noticing (on christmas day I swallowed the whole bar, with lunch!!) So I've ended up with a ring, a look I was keen on avoiding initially, but have come to love it so much I refuse to go back to a bar.
It is part of me, as much as the colour of my eyes. I hope I never have to part with it.
Lessons & tips: Don't play with it too much - make sure the placement isn't going to chip your teeth!!!
