How to thoroughly clean my espresso machine
"My espresso machine was out of commission for a while due to laziness and being away from home, but I came back to it and look forward to making coffee now."
How I did it: I wiped the outside of my La Pavoni machine until it shone spotlessly. I fully disassembled and cleaned the boiler group. I ran the machine with a tank full of 50% distilled white vinegar/50% water and then ran the machine on three more tanks of water. It runs wonderfully and my coffee tastes fantastic. I've returned to loving my espresso so much that I wake up looking forward to making it again.
Lessons & tips: the 50/50 white vinegar & water solution does the job for me. I'll probably switch between it and a "real" cleaner, but I doubt it'll hurt me not to.
