How to analyze some of my dreams
"I realized that my dreams were providing me with more insight than most of my intellectualization of my experiences"
How I did it: During the time in my life when a lot was happening and a lot of important decisions needed to be made, I started having really vivid dreams. Some seemed fairly self explanatory but others would stick with me for days but seemed totally bizarre. I started using dreammoods.com to start figuring out what my dreams meant. I used the dream dictionary to find out what certain things symbolized and the meanings of my dreams became really clear. I also spoke with friends who had studied Jung a lot and knew about archetypes and symbols to find out more what my dreams meant.
Lessons & tips:
- If certain images or scenes really stick with you, look them up to see what they mean.
- A common thing or something you recently saw or did may be the source of a greater symbolic meaning. When there were major changes going on in my life I dreamed about things that were fairly common for me but bizarre things would pop up or happen and I realized that the symbolism often represented change, new beginnings, hopefulness, and excitement. At first I wasn't convinced but every vivid symbol that I could remember would be related to a common theme when I looked it up so it seemed relevant.
