How to send a letter in a bottle

How I did it: just the way you do it: write a letter 'dear you who found the bottle.. I am... and I'm happy if you write me back [your adress]' - throw it into the sea, far far away and wait for an answer
i throw it away two times into the Eastern Sea on the Dutch island Ameland, the answer I got about 2 month later and the other time about 10 month later
Lessons & tips: you have to throw it when the tide is out, and don't forget to really put on the cork strongly
