How to visit paris by AgentTheDuck

"Completely worth selling cookies in the freezing cold! What a beautiful place!"

How I did it: I went with my GirlScout group. We sold cookies outside of stores for over a year, and I also saved up money from my part-time job. It was an EF Tour and part of a 15-day trip, so I only got to spend 4 days in Paris. Still, very much worth it.

I don't recommend one of these tours, though, if you can help it... The schedule's so intense that we all found ourselves sleep deprived for the whole trip, and if you didn't like the food served, you also were likely to go hungry. It was manageable, of course, because YAY PARIS, but still...

Lessons & tips:

  • Try to speak French, if you can. Even if it's terrible, the locals are much more likely to help you.
  • Notre Dame is a really hard climb!! Make sure you're ready for it.
  • GET CREPES AND THEM OFTEN. You will never have crepes this good again!
  • There are tons of artists willing to draw portraits all around the city. Shop around before deciding.

I think I might have gone on the same trip! We went to London first, then took a ferry to France. I actually liked the scheduled tour, because although it was busy, it was amazing because you get to see so much more, and it’s all included for the one low price! I thought it was a good “intro to England/France” so I have a good general idea of what it’s like there. Also, that way when I go back and have to spend way more money, I know what areas I want to spend more time on what isn’t worth my money to visit.
