How I did it: Pay for everything with cash.  No credit cards, no debit cards.....cash and pay bills with checks on pay day.  I made a list of all of my bills and paid off the smallest one first.  Then each month after I applied that amount I was paying to the first...and applied it to the second.  (got this technique from Dave Ramsey book). 
   Then I cleared and removed all clutter.  It's amazing how much you enjoy and appreciate your things once you commit to caring for them.  Maintain and clean and organize clothes/car/dishes/etc and you learn to enjoy them.....then you don't yurn for the junk you don't have. 

Lessons & tips: Get organized and remove temptation.  If you commit to not using credit cards, then take them out of your wallet.  If you want to lose weight, get rid of the bad food in your house and keep only good food.

Resources: Once you taste a little success you'll like it.  So give yourself a short term achievable goal.  Then leave yourself a note on the frig to remind you of your success.
