How to build a compost pile
How I did it: I called my city waste disposal department and requested a compost bin and they sent me one the very next day for free! I put fruit and vegetable scraps, egg shells, dryer lint, cat hair, coffee grounds, yard waste and some cardboard in there. When I had time I went to a dairy farm and got some dry manure to throw in there as well.
Lessons & tips: Here in Arizona ambient temperatures can be very hot and dry so it's important to water the pile a couple of times a week to keep it going. Don't forget to stir it up!
Also, now that I've got a little experience under my belt, I won't be putting any more cardboard in there again and don't recommend it for anyone else's pile.
