How to stop eating junk food
How I did it: It's often said that these things take time, but for me this was certainly not the case. I'd been thinking of going vegetarian again, now I'm not so often sick, but it got me thinking about not only meat but other foods also. With the help of good ol' trusty Google, I managed to hunt down all the nutritional information on many a foods that have become common in our daily diets. I also came across the fact that our store-bought (non-natural) soaps and lip glosses, etc, are said to contain unwanted or euthanized cats and dogs. Anyway, that's completely beside the point. What I'm saying is that the shocking truth behind some of the foods we eat should surley enough scare most people away from touching them again.
Changing diets is the hard part though, rather than just thoughts on the matter. It's hard to come up with healthier alternatives that cost as little, or at least around the same price range. A lot of people like to ease out of eating these toxic 'foods'. I myself found it easier to simply cut it out 'cold turkey' styles. Still living at home, I basically stopped eating any junk food (which, may I add, filled the cupboards for the most part) and snacked on nuts and fruit until my parents eventually gave in and did a mid-week grocery shop for heathier alternatives. I can proudly say I've now gone three months at bare minimum without touching a packet of chips.
Lessons & tips: One food many find hard to resist, it seems, is chocolate. I wouldn't have any idea on this one, as I'm allergic to it anyway, but think of it this way: the average chocolate bar contains eight insect legs (on average), and all of the leading chocolate producing companies have confessed to a certain amount of rat poo in their chocolate. Sounds a little vague, but is still disturbing enough, right?
I find shocking facts to be the most motivational way to change my diet, or anything else for that matter.
