How I did it: I created a Google account with my maiden name (the name everyone knew me by) so old friends would be able to find me.

I knew she knew how to find me, and was sure she would at some point. I thought she was in a completely different country and really didn't know any way to get in contact.

She searched on Google for me, found me and linked to my Twitter account, and I was thrilled!

Lessons & tips: be sure to register on Google with your full name (or the name people would search for you by) as well as your town
