How I did it: I kept putting it off, but it really expired in December, so it had to be done. I went to the post office and got a form, filled it out, got my picture taken at Walgreens, and sent it all in with a check and my old passport. Very easy. I also didn't need to change my name or expedite it, so that was a plus.
Resources: USPS.com; the US state department has a bunch of info on it as well. Just call someone and they can help you wade our way through all of the regulations and red tape if need be. Oh and don't wait until the last minute or it's going to suck for you! Money, stress, and time.
