How to ride in an ambulance
How I did it: I've done this a few times unfortunately. Once when my boyfriend and I were in a car accident. He was hurt, I wasn't, but I wanted to go the hospital with him so I rode up front with the driver. I was shocked to see someone run a stop sign in front of us! The next time was when my daughter was born. After delivery we had to be transferred to a different hospital. We went in separate ambulances, and my husband drove our car. That was no fun either. The most recent times I rode in ambulances was when my daughter wasn't breathing and needed oxygen. The EMT was very good and calm, and talked to me the entire time, which kept me calm too.
Lessons & tips: Listen to the EMTs, and stay calm if you can. Don't be shy about calling 911. It's better to have the EMTs show up
and have them tell you it's not life-threatening, than to wait too long
and regret it. Once I called 911 because my husband cut his finger badly. He didn't need an ambulance ride, but he did end up going to the hospital with a friend.
