Lessons & tips: Live with your spouse and not with your mother: although it seems like a mother could be a tremendous help, it is more likely that (if she's the type to do so) she will just criticise your parenting.
Resources: Cloth diapers are not nearly so inconvenient as one might think, and they'll save you a bundle.
