Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Don’t you think this is supporting drugs ? The drugs are being mainly supplied from countries like afganistan and then young people are buying them to ‘have fun’. Not really fun when you see that the drugs taken cause PERMANENT damage to the brain which can NEVER BE REPAIRED.

I don’t wish to sound like I am being a nag, but people die from drug overdose & this sort of ignorance is causing harm to everyone. Basically, why don’t you spend your time supporting things like helping animals from harm from being abused, or write novels, or spend time gardening or helping another person than polluting your own life or worse yet destroying it.

I feel strongly about this because this leads to addiction.

Think where your money is going to buy tickets for these events. Eventually this sort of thing will be wiped out.

Anything that lacks integrity or that harms another will eventually disintegrate I guess but maybe you have to learn in your own way.

Ps. If you harm another, which you are by taking drugs (if you do), then you are harming others & this planet & the earth, including animals !!!

Hi again. Oh, this was quite a while ago now I wrote. Yes, you are right in that other countries do supply drugs yet it is the abuse of drugs which is the problem & most raves are ‘all nighters’ & how can someone possibly stay awake during these events. Most likely the djs & others organizing them are trafficking drugs to young people who are lured into drugs I guess. I had a sister who went to raves & people I know that drugs are the major thing associated with these events which isn’t really supporting non addictive fun time activities. But on the other hand I commend you & your friends for not taking drugs & enjoying yourselves otherwise which is fantastic & shows courage to steer clear of drugs. I don’t think people who take drugs are ‘bad’, in fact I have empathy for those who are that stressed in their lives that they need drugs to escape it & hope they find constructive or nurturing ways to heal their lives. I have been around those who have been into drugs & it is so damaging even if just socialising. It isn’t worth it. I think it is good to have a safe place for those who do take drugs but is it really safe ??? It definitely isn’t good for the person in any way but if there are others there to take care then it is better than no one to help them if they overdose or something.

Many blessings to you & your friends & to those who do partake in these events.

:)
