"long, painful process. but worth it"
How I did it: went to my local orthodontist, they're the best person to talk to about this sort of stuff
they took a photo of my teeth and showed it on a projector, it was horrifying, that was enough to convince me to get braces.
they put a palatal expander on my top teeth because i had a narrow jaw (it was like a plate on the roof of my mouth attached to my teeth.. gave me a lisp), i had to tighten it myself every 2 days (it does something like put hairline cracks in your jaw bone.. hello painkillers!)
at the same time i had braces on my bottom teeth, then after the plate they put braces on the top as well.
i still have the braces on, i've had them on for 18 months, they're coming off soon :)
Lessons & tips: think of it like plastic surgery... if a doctor offered to do it for $10 youd expect a bad result - dont go for the cheapest just because its the cheapest!!
