How to graduate from college
How I did it: College wasn't difficult. That is not to say that it wasn't hard work or challenging--that it did not require me to abandon my comfort zone and explore the world in ways that I never intended. But, it wasn't difficult. The beauty of a liberal arts education is the way in which it frees the mind for exploration and inquiry. Reading a thousand pages a week is not necessarily my idea of fun--especially when the topic at hand is very esoteric--but the desired outcome is always attained: a more profound understanding of the processes of paidea.
Lessons & tips: - No job during the first semester/first year to appropriately acclimate to a new environment.
- Build positive yet informal relationships with professors and program directors.
- Clearly outline financial goals and discuss all possibilities with financial aid officials.
- Stick to the one drink rule.
- Get away from campus every week. Being in the real world keeps you grounded.
- Find a school that meets financial need 100%--preferably a school with a stable endowment and gives aid in the form of grants as opposed to loans.
- Study abroad!
