How to get rid of old clothes
How I did it: I've wanted to get rid of a lot of my old / too small / too big / etc. clothing for years but just couldn't make myself get around to it. Then a friend of a friend invited me to a "clothing swap" and that really lit a fire under me. My goal was to get rid of every single thing I don't wear anymore, and I thought if I was lucky I might come home with one cute "new" thing. And that's exactly what happened!
By the way, all the clothing that wasn't spoken for at the end of the night was donated to charity.
Lessons & tips: It can be hard to let go of certain items, eg. your favourite lovely maternity top, your cute "skinny" jeans from years ago, etc. I just had to keep reminding myself that they served me well and now they will serve someone else well. (My favourite lovely maternity top went to a really nice lady I had never met before, and the item I came home with was a really gorgeous pair of capris that she had hand-sewn! That took a lot of the sting out of having to get rid of that beautiful top.)
Resources: The woman who hosted the clothing exchange found a charity that would come and pick up all the leftover clothing at her house, which is great because she has a new little baby and not much time to schlep stuff around.
