How to ride a Camel
How I did it: We don't usually do this, but we signed up to go with a group out to the Sahara camel riding and camping with a Berber tribe while we were in Morocco and the way to get to the campsite was by camel. Getting on the camel is easier than getting on a horse since the camels get down on the ground, but when they stand up, it can be unsettling to say the least -- maybe like riding a small earthquake. However, since I did a lot of horseback riding when I was young, it only took me a little while to adjust to the camel ride. Whole lot of fun going on.
Lessons & tips: Hang on. You don't really have to worry about walking behind them the way you do with a horse, but be careful of their tempers -- they can be kind of surly and they spit when they get angry.
