How to ragbrai
How I did it: Train. Persist. Take one hill at a time. Believe you can do it. Never quit. (Of course, it's hard to quit as you can't get home....)
Remember how good you feel when you get back to camp each night- not how you feel when you start each morning sore!
Lessons & tips: Train in advance. Train on hills. Train in heat. Take strong sunscreen!
Go with a group the first time in order to move up the learning curve but camping in too small a space with a large group is probably the worst aspect of the entire experience.
Do it with a friend so that you have someone to spend time with at the end of the day. There's nothing worse than riding 80 miles a day and then not having anyone to moan with!
Test your tent to make sure it's waterproof. Bring extra tent spikes for the winds.
