irishparisienne hurts! but its ok cos its from exercise.. go me!
for when things got busy socially.. or your routine gets put out of whack?
I want to exercise every day and it was easy earlier in the week when I was just in my normal routine but then I had stuff on the last few nights and busy all weekend.
Do you get up at 6am to exercise? Do you have to become all about the exercise?? Hmmmmmm

GREAT question. It seems that everyone would encounter this issue at some point.
I handled this issue by having two schedules: weekday and weekend. I much prefer to workout during the afternoons, but I had to push my routine to the mornings on the weekends. It wasn’t easy at first (I am NOT a morning person), but believe it or not – I’ve grown to LOVE weekend morning workouts!
To sell you on this: There’s something special that’s shared among people who choose to workout early Saturday and Sunday mornings – much more so than a regular weekday morning. It’s like this secret club that only a few are privy to. I share smiles with people I pass during this time, which is completely different than the afternoon, when I barely acknowledge anyone. It’s super quiet and I feel I get a better workout, being that there are barely any cars on the road for me to wait to pass at intersections. And then there’s the delicious smells of the morning as people wake up… It’s spectacular. And for you being in France, I imagine it being 1000 times better than my little old neighborhood! (I may be romanticizing that part, but I have a sneaking suspicion I might be right lol)
Here’s a quick read on waking up early for workouts: Learn to Love A.M. Exercise (Coincidently, it arrived in my inbox this morning!)
If waking up at the crack of dawn is out of the question, there’s also these ten-minute workouts (see 10 Minute Workouts) that you can squeeze in the morning (or whenever). I myself like setting myself up in front of my laptop outside and doing the “10-Minute Jump Rope Cardio Workout” which can be adapted to be as hard or as easy as you want it – it makes me break out in a sweat every time! There’s also “Coach Nicole’s Jump Start Cardio Workout” which you can make high or low impact without equipment.
Hope this helps… And good luck!

the before and after pictures are inspiring.. not that you looked bad before.. i do like a little meat in my bones when it comes to females haha.. but you do look great now.. do you really work out EVERYDAY? how long have you been at it?
the reason why i am asking is because i just started up again.. i’m about 15-20 lbs overweight.. i’ve been going for almost a month and a half now.. my strength/stamina is starting to come back again
i’m on a 3 day / 1 off regimen.. this way i work out each body part twice a week and it gives me at least 72 hours for recovery for each body part
1st day
chest/tri’s/abs/cardio
2nd day
biceps/back/abs/cardio
3rd day
shoulders/legs/abs/cardio
4th day
day off
i also do abs everyday and do at least 1 hour cardio each session.. just light cardio though because i have a bad left knee.. if i’m on the treadmill i’m walking.. never running.. bike.. eliptical.. etc.. i watch my heart rate.. make sure it’s at least on the fat burning levels
i’m somewhat disappointed because i’ve been working hard and i’ve only lost about 4-5 lbs in 40 days.. part of it could be because i might have gained some muscle mass.. but i’ll see if i need to make some adjustments to my workout regimen within the next couple of weeks (lighter weights.. more reps.. more cardio.. etc.)
i’m trying harder to watch my diet now because i know it’s more 80% what i eat and 20% working out.. i just have to watch my eating habits
“working out at the same time” – as you mentioned helps me also.. as you develop a routine.. it becomes second nature.. i have a set time i go.. usually at 10 pm because that’s when the gym starts to clear out a little bit.. and i’m able to get a machine without waiting
same thing as my eating habits.. i’m starting to get rid of the bad habits i had before..and am switching to the good ones.. 5 to 6 small meals a day.. healthier.. subway instead of chinese for lunch.. no sodas.. more water.. hard boiled eggs for protein.. more fruits and veggies.. etc.. i don’t think i could go vegan though.. i need me a nice steak every once in blue moon =D
“i thought about only today” – something that helps me is writing a daily “to do” list.. which also includes “the gym” of course.. it’s crazy how much you can get done in your life by writing goals down (hence 43things lol)
before i started a month and a half ago.. my general habits were pretty bad.. i would sit at a desk 8 hours a day.. go home.. then play “warcraft” or “madden” for another couple of hours.. i ate filipino food (which consisted of white rice and fatty foods) everyday.. i always felt tired.. i would fall asleep in my break room at work.. and take naps in the afternoons.. this continued for almost 2 years.. that’s how i became overweight in the first place.. i’m 30 years old and should be in my prime and best shape of my life.. instead it was the opposite.. it was affecting my life and i knew i had to make a change
now that i’m back into my regimen.. i’m not looking back.. i know where i need to go now.. i just wish i started a lot earlier.. it’s not that i’m a bad person.. i was just focusing on the wrong things.. i was going to the gym consistently when i was in my early 20’s so this is not new to me.. like you said it’s all about putting that “routine” and foundation back into place
i consider myself hard working and i put 100% in whatever i do.. no matter what it is.. and i know CONSISTENCY is key.. so i just hope i can keep doing this for years to come
anyway.. like i said in the beginning.. you look great now! hope you keep it up..

“do you really work out EVERYDAY? how long have you been at it?” – With the exception of a few days off from illness, I’ve been at this for almost 4 months. As it turned out, daily exercise is more than just losing weight and getting fit; it’s the only thing that stabilizes my mood. It’s the only activity that I can take my frustrations out on and come out euphoric! Sometimes I think I’m more addicted to the runner’s high, but if I come out healthier at the end, then have at it, right? ;-)
Some notes:
1. Forget the scale. If you do weigh in, try not to do it more than once a week, because it’s like you said: muscle weighs more than fat and you do a fabulous amount of strength training. The measuring tape and body fat % -that’s where it’s at! :)
2. I’m not sure about doing abs on consecutive days, because it’s a muscle just like arms, legs, etc. (Too much to type, this article to see what i mean)
3. I like your cardio plan. One hour a day does wonders! And yes, I hear knees are important. I’m glad you found what works for you. :)
4. “i’m starting to get rid of the bad habits i had before..and am switching to the good ones.. 5 to 6 small meals a day.. healthier.. subway instead of chinese for lunch.. no sodas.. more water.. hard boiled eggs for protein.. more fruits and veggies.. etc.. i don’t think i could go vegan though.. i need me a nice steak every once in blue moon” – Congrats to you on these changes! Eating to support fitness/health is harder for most people because of the change in lifestyle. I also like your idea of replacing one unhealthy habit with a healthy one, it’s a strategy that really works. :)
5. “i’m 30 years old and should be in my prime and best shape of my life.. instead it was the opposite.. it was affecting my life and i knew i had to make a change” I recently learned that it’s never too late to start! And the whole “it was easier to lose weight when I was younger” is a poor excuse (I even used it at one point!). It’s all about eating habits and LIVING an active life, or “living like a kid again,” as some say. Of course this outside of joint problems and such, but it’s amazing how influential fitness can be in preventing future diseases, bone loss, even cancer. So BIG props to you for getting fit again, you really deserve it!
By the way, I see that you post regular updates on how you’re doing in fitness. I’ll check in on your progress; it’s stuff like that that inspires me to get up day after day and sweat it out! :):):)
