How I did it: Saved, saved, saved...then quit my job which gave me the luxury of time. Creating time to travel allows you to really experience the different cultures, and not just blindly follow some tour guide because you only have a few days before needing to get back to the office.
Lessons & tips: Simplify, simplify, simplify! Ok, that wasn't my quote, but it is the best advice you can get on traveling. Less to carry, less expenses, and more fun!
